Lodestar Backcountry Provisions is an independent Canadian place-based goods and creative media company built through documented field projects in Canada’s wild places.

We work with retailers, food and beverage producers, tourism and outdoor organizations, hospitality partners, researchers, artists, and creators whose work shares an authentic relationship with place.

The Ishpatina Wild Yeast Sourdough Starter is available to selected Canadian retailers, including specialty food shops, maker and gift shops, tourism retailers, outdoor-oriented businesses, and independent boutiques.

Creative and Place-Based Collaborations

Each Lodestar collaboration begins with a real place and a clear reason to explore it. Potential projects include:

• Co-branded products and limited releases
• Destination storytelling and documented fieldwork
• Place-based photography, video, field recordings, and soundscapes
• Fermentation, food, and sensory-experience collaborations
• Editorial projects, events, tastings, and creative activations

Lodestar is particularly interested in partnerships that deepen people’s relationship with Canadian landscapes rather than using wilderness as a generic visual backdrop.

Wild Yeast Licensing and Research

Lodestar may consider licensing selected identified wild yeast strains for brewing, winemaking, kombucha, and other fermentation projects outside sourdough and bread. Lodestar does not license its strains for use in competing sourdough starters or bread products.

Research, strain evaluation, and product-development inquiries are welcome.

Corporate Gifting

Ishpatina starters can also be considered for distinctive Canadian corporate gifts, event packages, and place-based welcome gifts, subject to quantity and production timelines.
