New Brunswick's Highest Peak, Served on your Table.
15g dehydrated | Makes 1 sourdough starter | Made in Canada

Mount Carleton, rising above the forests of northern New Brunswick at 820 metres, is the highest point in the Maritime provinces. Remote, rugged, and often shrouded in cloud, it offers sweeping views of rolling hills, endless spruce, and hidden lakes below. Now, you can bring a taste of that wilderness into your own kitchen.

This dehydrated sourdough starter was created with wild yeasts found on the slopes of Mount Carleton and grown with flour milled in New Brunswick. Each 15g packet contains a living piece of the mountain - microorganisms adapted to the cool air and forests of the Acadian wilderness. With a little care and feeding, it will spring back to life and become your baking companion for years to come, as a unique way to take home the experience of being on New Brunswick's highest point.

Adventure, Preserved

Every Lodestar Backcountry Provisions starter is part of a bigger story: a hike, a summit, and a memory of the Canadian backcountry. This one carries the essence of Mount Carleton - its granite summit, wind-bent trees, and panoramic views across the Maritimes.

This sourdough was started during a hike to the summit of Mount Carleton in July 2025. If you want to read about the hike (and maybe gather some information to plan your own trip), read the trip report here.

Take the wilderness home. Bake bread that carries the taste of adventure.
